The Name
Surname "Falco" is Italian in origin. It translates to "hawk," "falcon," "raptor", "bird of prey."
There is a famous wine region in Italy named Montefalco (with an "e").
We wanted to give our farm winery a name relatable to the Monticello American Viticulture Area in which we are located. Owner & Winemaker Justin Falco created the name Montifalco (with an "i"), like Monticello.
With lineage to falconers of ancient times, Justin has always had a deep appreciation and love of birds and avian conservationism.
Here are some raptors commonly seen at the vineyard. Come check them out!
Don't miss our famous Goldfinch feeders. They're not raptors but they put on a show!

Peregrine falcon, Falco peregrinus

Red-tail hawk, Buteo jamaicensis

Cooper's hawk, Accipiter cooperii

Bald Eagle, Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Barred Owl, Strix varia

American Goldfinches
